Rosie’s take on… Your feelings are valid

This is important.

I have a longer blog post about this in the works. But for now, let me just tell you; your feelings are valid.

No matter what, even if people say you’re overreacting, even if you think you’re overreacting; your feelings are valid. People don’t get to decide what upsets you.

It’s okay if you hold a grudge forever. It’s okay if you get mad and stay mad. It’s okay if the same thing continually makes you cry. You have a right to be upset. You have a right to react however you need to, to any situation.

It’s okay if you cut off friendships that are toxic. It’s okay to hate someone you used to love. It’s okay to be mad at someone who has done you wrong. It’s okay to miss people who have treated you badly.

And it’s okay for you to forgive, even if it feels like you should still be mad. It’s okay for you to decide that your happiness is more important than holding a grudge. It’s okay to put yourself first. It’s okay to realise you should care about you the most.

Yes, it’s okay to hold a grudge forever. But it’s also okay if one day you realise you can let it go. Remember, holding onto anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.

It’s okay if you can find a way to be okay. You’re not doing it as a favour to them, you’re doing it as a favour to yourself. Be okay. Forgive, move on and be okay with it. But if you can’t? That’s okay, too. Because your feelings are valid.
